New Ferrari PH distributor Velocita Motors Inc to reveal Roma Spider

The last time Ferrari launched a soft-top convertible was way back in 1969 with the 365 GTS4. Also called the Daytona, it was available in various body styles including a hardtop coupe. However, some customers opted for the droptop version which came with a fabric roof.

Fast forward to the 2020s and Ferrari introduced its newest soft-top thoroughbred after a long hiatus. What's better is that it's set to be previewed in the country very soon. After making its global debut in Europe, new Ferrari Philippines distributor Velocita Motors Inc. (VMI) has announced that they will show the Roma Spider next week.

From its namesake, the Roma Spider will feature a folding fabric roof that can be deployed in as little as 13.5 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h. However, it's the vast personalization options available that will make the soft-top stand out even more. From bespoke fabrics to various contrast stitching, customers will be able to customize the soft top of the Ferrari Roma.

Design-wise, the Roma Spider still bears the looks of the “La Nuova Dolce Vita” concept of the hardtop version. But since it has a folding roof, the designers redesigned the rear of the Roma Spider to incorporate the folding roof mechanism as well as the fabric top. The automaker even removed the signature Scuderia Ferrari side shields to preserve the Roma Spider's minimalist design.

It may be a convertible, but the Roma Spider is a 2+2 droptop which means you can bring your friends for a road trip with the top off. The exact specifications for the Roma Spider are not yet available although we can expect it to be available with an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, an 8.8-inch display for the front passenger, 18-way front adjustable seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, and more.

Under the hood, we can expect the 2024 Ferrari Roma Spider to get a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 that generates an impressive 620 PS along with a beefy 760 Nm of torque. It is then paired with an 8-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox which allows the convertible to sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h.
