Meet the new Mazda BT-50 updated for 2016

Mazda Thailand has launched the 2016 BT-50 Pro that features a redesigned exterior.

According to the company, the 2016 BT-50 Pro is being produced at the AutoAlliance Thailand (AAT) plant in Rayong for Thai domestic and global export markets.

Mazda Thailand President Hidesuke Takesue said that the new BT-50 Pro is the "perfect pick-up" for this era.

"The new BT-50 Pro is the perfect pick-up for this era with its elegant design both inside and out resembling a luxury SUV," said Takesue.

In terms of the dimension, the 2016 BT-50 Pro measures 5365mm long, 1850mm wide and 1821mm tall. As compared to its predecessor, the vehicle is slightly taller by 6mm.

Up front, the 2016 BT-50 Pro gets significant Kodo-infused styling updates with redesigned headlights, restyled bumper and large fenders. Turning at the side, the vehicle is characterized by flowing lines.

The rear of Mazda's pickup gets a new aggressive-looking combination taillights and it is finished off with 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

Inside, the 2016 BT-50 Pro features a revamped seat design along with a multi-information display, round air-con vents and a three-spoke steering wheel. The cabin also has silver trims as seen on the door handles, armrests, shift knob and center console. Mazda says the 2016 BT-50 Pro comes with Bluetooth connectivity system.

The 2016 BT-50 Pro is available with three engine options: (1) 3.2-liter that delivers 203 PS and 470 Nm of torque; (2) 2.2-liter that generates 152 PS and 375 Nm; and (3) 2.5-liter that Produces 168 PS and 225 Nm. The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The 2016 BT-50 Pro is available in 2WD as well as 4WD drivetrains.
